Thank you for confirming. I have come across the 1951 census with Samuel's father William listed as coming from Chowbent Lane and the only Chowbent I can find via Google Maps is in Manchester. Is this correct?

Regarding Sarah Adams nee Taylor, as I cannot find her on the 1921 census, am assuming she has either moved away or has died? I have come across the below death records of a Sarah Taylor but the registration district is Bromsgrove?: -

Name:   Sarah Adams
Estimated Birth Year:   abt 1873
Registration Year:   1914
Registration Quarter:   Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death:   41
Registration district:   Bromsgrove
Parishes for this Registration District:   View Ecclesiastical Parishes associated with this Registration District
Inferred County:   Worcestershire
Volume:   6c
Page:   245

I'm now speculating that Sarah may have ended up at Barnsley Hall Hospital but I have no way of proving this as I don't have access to Volume: 6c and page 245?

You would need to apply for the death certificate from the qtr, year, volume and page.

www.gro.gov.uk is the cheapest place to place your order

Thanks Pauline but I'm reluctant to order and would only do it if I'm confident that it is her.

I think Barnsley Hall Hospital has been pulled down? Wondering if there's a way of accessing their hospital records?

Hi so you feel Sarah had Mental health problems, as that particular hosptital closed in 1996 and was a Psychiatric Hospital.
A bit if/buts/and maybes?

Hi,

Agree if/but/maybes.... I'm just speculating at this point as seeing on the 1911 census that Sarah appears to have had 3 children, 2 sons Arthur John and Philip Edwin and lost one child plus ended up as a Border to William Worton. She hasn't lived with her husband Philip Henry Adams for many years plus has moved from one place to another so am wondering that she may have suffered some kind of depression after the loss of her child? I can't find records for the deceased child, which doesn't help either...

My Dad was surprised when I showed the 1911 census to him as he knew nothing about the 3rd child.

:) Hi again, have only had a cursory glance, but have you purchased any Birth/Marriage & Death certificates or relied on records available online?
