The 1895 marriage of Philip Henry Adams and Sarah Taylor?
« on: Monday 04 December 17 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have this marriage down because it includes John Billingham Adams, father and Alma, sister of Philip Henry Adams: -

Marriage 18 Aug 1895 St John The Baptist Halesowen
Philip Henry ADAMS 23 B Stock Taker Belle Vale Hawne Father John Billingham Adams Stock Taker
Sarah TAYLOR 22 S The Mount Boro' Father Samuel Taylor Labourer
After Banns/Both Signed
Wit; Samuel Taylor / Alma Adams

and have come across another marriage also during 1895: -

Philip Henry Adams Sep qtr 1895 Stourbridge Worcestershire
Volume   6c Page   207
Household Members
Name   Age
Philip Henry Adams
John Portman
Elizabeth Smith
Sarah Taylor

Are they referring to the same marriage? Not sure why or how John Portman and Elizabeth Smith fit in, if they're not witnesses?

Does anyone know what is S The Mount Boro'?

Thanks

There will be two brides and two grooms and two marriages with the same reference.

The 4 names are arranged alphabetically. It's the same event

This is the same marriage

The index entry gives 4 names, because the Parish Register will have two marriages recorded on each page, thus there will be two marriages with that reference number 8c page 207, in the quarter Jul/Aug/Sep  (which covers the date of the marriage you are interested in) .  The other two names, John Portman and Elizabeth Smith, will be the names of the bride and groom of the other marriage recorded on that same page.

Thanks keyboard86.

It seems that Sarah Caroline Taylor has left her husband and their two sons, followed her parents and siblings to Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA plus married Lewis Stadelmaier and died on 25 May 1946?

So just when did the middle name for Sarah ( Caroline ) Taylor/Adams come into existence?

She was the first born and christened Sarah Caroline Taylor on 3 April 1871 to Samuel Taylor (16/12/1847 in Cradley - 21/5/1911 in USA) and Delilah Williams (1851 in Cradley - 1913 in USA)

Other children: -

Samuel 1873 -
John Thomas 1875 - 1939
Tamar May 1877 - 1938
Amy Annie 1880 - 1941
Isabela 1881 -

All above were born in Cradley

Last two were born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA: -

Florence Violet 8/10/1885 - 13/11/1939
Pearl Ameila 7/1/1889 - 10/9/1939

I've come across a Sarah Adams (married) travelling on a ship called Saint Louis from Southampton to New York, arriving on 20 October 1900 so am assuming it is her...?

Hi agree that Philip Henry Adams is married in 1911/1939 he dies 21st March 1953 aged 80, you say Sarah left her children behind, I can only locate a Philip Edwin b 1899 who dies Sept qtr 1977 in Dudley?
The Sarah Adams departing Southampton on the St Louis was with husband Herbert also 30
