Alexander Gibson & Janet Moore

If anyone is ever researching in Newtown - Ardes, Down,Ireland, could they see if it list the name of parents for Janet Moore on the marriage record. Many say her father was Sir John Moore but truly I have no clue.

Also trying to find the birth date  and place for their son Stewart Gibson.

There son Stewart Gibson born ? In either Scotland, Ireland or posibely New Brunswick, married Rebecca Jane Evans. Stewart and Rebecca lived in New Brunswick Canada,their daughter Margaret King Gibson was born 1837 in ST.James Charlotte County New Brunswick Canada,she married John Russell Blair in 1863.

I think it is highly unlikely that Major General Sir John Moore was Janet's father.  John was born on 13th November 1761 and died at the Battle of Corruna on 16th January 1809 aged 47 years.

If Janet was born in 1775 then John would only have been 14 years of age.

From what I have read so far I cannot see any suggestion that he married let alone fathered any children.  All the information about him seems to concentrate on his military career.

I could be wrong of course, but I still consider the likelihood of his being Janet's father remote.

Have you tried Scotland's People for any possible baptisms for Stewart Gibson?

Stewart Gibson married Rebecca Jane Evans 21 March 1837 New Brunswick (familysearch)

Is this them in census 1871 which has place of birth for them both as Ireland
