After the discussion  tonight i found something,  that might be relevent. You mentioned James had a brother Thomas I think? I keyed it into my Tablet  ancestry and found a Thomas born 1821 Cranwell,  mother Mary born late 1700s from Ireland. Need to find it again. Regards  Floozy

Ok I have a  hunch may be wrong,  I found  a birth for Thomas 1820 and a birth for James 1823 to a Thomas and Mary  Gray

Possible census Thomas Unmarried  with his widowed Mum  1861

If its her she was born  Ireland.  Could be Mary Bunning

Just to add this to the mix !!  On FreeReg there is a burial for a Mary Gray at St Andrew`s Church Cranwell on the 11th July 1870, she was 75, her abode Cranwell.

There is, also at Cranwell, a burial for a Thomas Gray on the 8th February 1841 age 66.
