The last record I have of William and Edith HARDING is the 1911 census. William is aged 53 and described as a cowman on a farm, born Salperton, Glos. Edith, his wife, is aged 62, born Siddington, Glos. They are living with Reggie Fred BRAIN, aged 6, descreibed as their grandson, a scholar, born Tuffley, Glos.
William Harding was born in 1857 at Northleach [Q4 1857 Northleach 6a 303]. His father was Daniel HARDING, a labourer. His mother was Caroline HARDING, née Humphries.
Edith HARDING (née JEWELL) was born in1846 at Siddington (Q4 1846 Cirencester 11 249). Her father was John JEWELL, a labourer. Her mother was Caroline JEWELL, née Allen. The Jewell surname is often spelt JOEL.
The couple married in Dec 1877 in Cheltenham.
There is a possible death for Edith in April 1922 in Withington, Burghill, Herefordshire. She was aged 75 and is described as the wife of William HARDING, a stationary engine driver at a tile works. In 1911 he was a cowman, in 1901 a farm bailiff and in 1891 an agricultural labourer. The informant was Eleanor Lily Crooks, a daughter living in Withington. This could be the Eleanor L HARDING (daughter), aged 12, in the 1901 census.
As for William there are several possible deaths in Herefordshire: Mar 1928 Hereford 6a 681, Dec 1939 Hereford 6a 1326 and Sep 1922 Hereford 6a 432.
I would really like to find out for sure what happened to the couple after the 1911 census. Any help would be much appreciated.
