DNA testing
« on: Friday 08 December 17 19:06 GMT (UK) »
I think I have found the company I want to order my DNA test from.

Does anyone know if I have to create a tree on that site or can I upload a gedcom?

Thanks.

It would help if you named the company rather than let people try to guess it
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

If you test with ancestry first you can then upload your results to My Heritage at no charge.
Family Tree DNA too. So triple exposure for the one outlay.

I will not be using ancestry as I have heard a lot of bad things about them.

My Heritage is also a reasonable price at the moment and seems to offer what I want.

Have heard some bad things about both but went with Ancestry and have not had any problems.

yes ancestry is the best decision. I would then upload your raw autosomal data to ftdna and gedmatch for free. This way you'll get matches from people that have tested at other sites.
