Showing family tree
« on: Sunday 10 December 17 07:35 GMT (UK) »
My son would like to see the latest version of the family tree; is there any way to do this without taking my laptop with me? He does not have any family tree software.

I'm hoping to visit him over Christmas.....and suspect the only way is to pack my laptop along with Christmas presents!

Do you have a tree on Ancestry??  If so, there is a facility to send an invitation and password to view your tree.

l assumed that he needs a family tree programme of sorts to pass a  file over to him, if not I am interested myself to find out what to do, I have friends family trees here that they can never receive unless I send it in paper form, my own would take reams and reams of paper to copy, it is a shame to waste the information

I don't have a tree on Ancestry and have no plans for one but a good idea, thank you.

It is difficult to recommend a reasonably priced family tree programme, my own was bought for me and cost 20 over 20 years ago, it works for me, I paid for an update on the programme and couldn't get to grip with it so I am loath to replace it

If you had had "The Master Genealogist" you could use the "Second Site" program to create a web site which you can burn to a CD to post to your family.

Likewise, RootsMagic has RootsMagic-to-go ;D
Trees can be copied to CD-Rom, which can then be viewed on a TV.
