Tracking down Burnley warhero Sgt J.E.Dickson
« on: Sunday 10 December 17 10:05 GMT (UK) »
Dear Members, I have been researching an Halifax bomber JD215 shotdown over Waalre 29th June 1943 for a very long time. I am in touch with almost all the crew relatives except  Sgt John Edwin Dickson. Only I have his servicenumber 1368890 no place where he was born and or grow up so I don't know where to start. Sgt Dickson(Dixie) flew as a Flight Engineer on JD215. I was told by one of your members that The Burnley Express of 7 July 1943 reported Sgt J.E.Dickson was missing in action. Is this means that he came from Burnley?? Hopefully someone of your members could shine a light on this and put me in touch with relatives of this airman.

Regards,
Adrian

The Burnley Express of 7 July 1943 reported “Sergeant John Edwin Dickson of the RAF (VR), was “missing” in action. He was a native of London where his mother is a Music Teacher. Prior to the outbreak of war he was living at 21, Livingstone Street with his grandmother (Mrs. Blackburn), and at times with his aunt Ela Halsall at 3, Broughton Street.
