It did not stop some people though they just married away from the area they were living in  :)

This is very true and they didn't always go out of the area. My gt gt grandfather married his sister in law in 1874. They married in the local church and had both been widowed so perhaps no one knew she was his sister in law. Or maybe they just didn't know it was illegal.

There is a Blake/Howes marriage in Croydon in 1888 however it's not Maria Mary
