Hi all, I have tried all the usual routes to find this lot, searched under just places of birth and first name, first name and birth years etc, so as you can see I just about know all the standard ways of finding hiding rellies! But this lot have me stumped, please help!!

Slightly complicated to start but bear with please!

In 1851 I have:

Charles Lynham Mulford 1809 south Brent, Somerset
Jane Vann Mulford ( nee card) 1821 mark, Somerset
Sarah Jane Mulford 1846 south Brent, Somerset ( have her in 1861 with uncle)
Elizabeth lynham Mulford 1847 south Brent, somerset
Martha Mulford 1850 Bristol
Emily Katherine Mulford 1853 Bristol ( from the 1871)

Also there is a John Mulford 1839 Mark, Somerset he is actually John Card in every other census I have him in. But he's missing in the 61!

In 1871 after Charles has died Jane, Elizabeth and Emily are listed as just Lynham.

I cannot find any of the above in the 1861 census!!

Also Janes sister Betsy Card 1822 mark, Somerset who is by 1861 Betsy Collard and her son John Collard 1839, I have her other 3 kids in the workhouse and the 1851 for her looks like it says husband in America?? He was John Toleman Collard who is also AWOL

Can anyone find these lot or has anyone got any ideas please?

Cheers Kev

Collards on previous request. No point in going over old ground.

Hi, Sandra, but they only appear on certificates and are only on the register after 1911 aren't they?

1851 reference Bristol St Paul
HO107; Piece: 1949; Folio: 276; Page: 27
Charles a smith & farrier.

Is this a possibility?
In October 1841 a Charles Mulford age 32 got 12 months in prison for larceny [according to the Bristol Mercury 31 Oct 1841 he stole 3 pigs from Jesse Hewitt at East Brent].
In 1861 there is a C M sawyer born Somerset [Frome] age 51 in prison in Clerkenwell
RG09 piece 194 folio 130 page 7

Wells Journal 23 Aug 1851 'Edward Field alias Phelps & Charles Mulford' ...to take their trials at the next sessions ...for stealing a horse'. Charles was acquitted.

ADDED: Apologies if you think I am suggesting your Charles was a serial criminal!! They might not be the same man.
