Levinia Cutcheon
« on: Monday 11 December 17 16:03 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me find out what happened to Levinia (sometimes Livinia, Lavinia or Viner) Cutcheon ( sometimes McCutcheon)?

Details: born Dec 1836 (as Levinia Banton) in Lancashire.
1851 census, Barton upon Orwell, Lancs. (as Banton)
June 1859 marries Samuel McCutcheon in Hull.
Appears clearly on 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses but then seems to disappear. Husband Samuel dies in Feb 1888 in Clee, Lincolnshire.
I am wondering if she may have remarried or emigrated. I have searched all the records I can think of, including NBI but can't find her.

Anyone any ideas?
Thanks.

As Pauline says, it helps if you give us all the details.

Here is the 1881 - which is the last sighting of her?  Unless she was informant on 1888 death of husband?

1881
20 Willingham Street,
Clee with Weelsby
Samuel Cutcheon 45 stone mason bn Ireland
Levinia 43 bn Heywood Lancashire

Were they still at Willingham Street when Samuel died ?

Stamford Mercury 10 Nov 1893

Wm John Delf of 52 Humber Street was summoned for aggravated assault upon his wife Lavinia Delf and pleaded guilty. Mrs Delf stated that her husband was formerly in the Army , a servant to the Duke of Connaught , a policeman at Dover and now second hand of a steam trawler . They were married in 1891 and he was her second husband .......

Sorry! I was trying to be concise, but realise that is not useful to you! This is what I have:
Born Dec 1836, Lancashire (as Levinia Banton). Parents: William Clement and Ellen.
1841 census: In  Bury, Lancashire with parents and siblings. DOB about 1837.
1851 census: in Barton upon Orwell as servant. DOB about 1837.

June 1859, marries Samuel McCutcheon in Hull, Yorkshire.
1861 census: Newton Heath, Lancashire. With Samuel. Listed as Viner Cutcheon. DOB 1837.
1871 census: Newton, Lancs.Living with Samuel and family. Also niece and nephew, William and Bishahiba (sic) Simpson. Widowed sister Bathsheba is living next door. DOB about 1836.
1881 census. Clee with Weelsby, Lincs. With husband and son. DOB about 1838.
I don't know who notified Samuel's death in 1888, but they were still living in Clee in Weelsby, Lincs.
I have now seen the further replies regarding her remarriage which I will follow through.
Thank you all for your help so far!

Thanks everyone, that checks out perfectly. Horrible about the assault but interesting to know.
Yet again you have solved a puzzle in my family tree.
