Thomas Edward Hare
« on: Monday 11 December 17 20:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi im trying to research my great grandfather Thomas Edward Hare born in 1900 or 1901 he eventually came to New Zealand. Im new to geneology and finding UK records quite hard to search I think he may have been a navy merchant and think he was born in West Ham. Does anyone know some links i could try to follow? Noone in the family knew or spoke about him so we dont really have any other information.
Thanks

However, there are several trees on Ancestry that show Thomas Edward Hare marrying Mary McNamara in Whitechapel in 1922, and then dying in Leytonstone in 1966. (Including pictures of his grave)

Thank you so much everyone for all the information. He married my great grandmother Ethel around 1930s, we think he may have died in the mental hospital around 1968 however the files are restricted so we are in the process to see if we can view them. We do know he did work on boats my grandmother thinks he was a navy merchant in england i cant seem to find where i need to search for info on that.

The age on death better fits the Thomas Edward Hare registered June 1899, Mile End
And free index to 1939 Register says born 1899

Findmypast may be the place to look, Merchant Seamen, 1918-1941
