(I was just about to suggest that 1899 birth for the death in 1966 - as another tree claims that man.

You would think if they can get a photo of the grave they could get the correct birth.)

Do you belong to Ancestry, as that has many records including height and weight at one point?

Hi thank you. he passed away in NZ in 1968 i think it was. he was divorced from Ethel Daisy in 1958 after many years of being in and out of the Whau lunatic asylum. Yes thanks we got his burial records he was buried here in NZ in a cemetery not far from me so will check it out in the weekend

In 1933, height 5' 6", weight 147lbs, tattoo on both arms.  15 years service, a fireman on the ship, arriving into Seattle, ship originally from Sydney.

Thank you very much, when it said mothers maiden name was whiteman did it have father and mothers first names? when i click on the gro link it takes me to a home page.

No, it does not have Parents' first names - you need to get the actual birth certificate for that information.

OR, you can look on free bmd for a possible Hare/Whiteman marriage.
As the surnames are not too common, you hope that you get very few possible marriages, and one in 1900 in West Ham does look a strong contender.

To use the GRO site, first you have to register.
After that, it's free to search the indexes, once you have logged on.

The other website is FreeBMD (not BDM! :D).
In the UK we do things chronologically: Birth, Marriage, Death ;D
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
