Hi Catherine,

I just looked at a couple of Trees for John Ridley on Anc.
Spouse Elizabeth Turnbull 1822-1860.

Do you have their Marriage Cert?

Strangely on it Elizabeth Turnbull names her Father as Isaac Robson, Occp Husbandman.
Her abode is Sweethope.
Witnesses to Marriage are William Turnbull/William Ridley

Trees have her Parents as William/Barbara Turnbull.

Something strange here?

Hi Trish, Thanks for looking that up, I don't have a marriage cert, only a transcription - so no parents etc..  I do have a illegitimate birth for Babara Turnbull daughter Elizabeth and had put a red ring around it as I thouhgt this might be her!!!

Will need to dig a bit, I think the address that Babara Turnbull gives is the farm "Longhaugh Shields", where John Ridley is resident from 1851 to before 1871 and the owners are Robson if I remember correctly!!!  So this seems to fit together a bit.  William Ridley (Witness) I think is John's brother.
