Haddon - Bates

Hi everyone,

I am helping a friend research their family tree, and they have become stuck very quickly.  Her grandmother was an Iris Rose Haddon b: 22nd July 1937, Newham, London, who married a Charles Ronald Aitkins 25th December 1933, Leyton, London, in 1959 in Essex.  Both grandparents are both deceased with Iris 1984 and Charles in 1999 in Maidstone, Kent.  She is therefore pretty stuck in trying to get any information prior to this.

I believe Iris' mother's surname was Bates.  She does not know what Charles' mother's name was.

She does not know if either of them had siblings.

If anyone could point us in the right direction as to where to search, as I unfortunately do not have much experience in researching ancestors in the London area, and she has never done this before, and unfortunately has no family members who can fill in the gaps.  I have exhausted the basic death and marriage indexes but cannot seem to locate anything more substantial in providing info on family members.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Would this be the correct death for 'Charles' as it would appear that there is a variance in the name
