On the 1939 for Hilda is Thomas (1909) and Audrey Darlington (Croft) (1934) and 2 closed records - those births for Hilda's children easily found on free bmd.

Marriages March quarter 1953
Audrey Croft    Barnsley
 Ronald Darlington    Barnsley

Audrey Darlington died in Barnsley age 69 in February 2004, born 30th November 1934
Looks like probate, grant only, for her.

Walter Adcock is in several trees on Ancestry, some showing some of the descendants that I have found.
If you want to give the book to 'family' suggest you contact the tree holders, or be prepared for a long wait.
