Help with Latin(?) abbreviation

I was looking through burial records from the early 1700s and a few of them contained the word 'vid.' next to the name of the deceased person.

Does anyone know what this word or abbreviation means?

Vidua = widow

Agree with oldtimer - if the abbreviation follows a woman’s name then it will be Vid[ua] or widow.
