SUTTON Rathdrum
« on: Friday 15 December 17 18:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I have over the years accumulated plenty of information on the various Sutton lines in Rathdrum but I’m trying to establish the line of an Isaac Sutton (married in Rathdrum to Mary Butler, in1748).  He was born in 1728 but I don’t know where. The family were probably Quakers. They had a son William in Rathdrum (b1768) who died 1801 Pennsylvania. He married Frances Sharpe (1771-1801). The Sharpes link to the Manning family of Rathdrum.
There is an Isaac Sutton descendant of the Sutton Dudleys (son of David S and Elizabeth Cox) who married Rachel Doty (Mayflower descendant), who may well be the father of Isaac but I’ve been unable to find any documentation.
Does anyone have any helpful knowledge on these folk please?
Many thanks,
Llij

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

According to Find A Grave, Rachel Doty was born 1735 and married (1749 Morris Co., New Jersey) Rev. Isaac Sutton-

Aside from Rachel Doty being younger than the Isaac Sutton born 1728 is it likely he was born in America and then married in Ireland?

Added- her son Isaac Sutton born 1750s in America-

Thank you for your reply.
I also have an Isaac who married Mary Elizabeth Carr (b 1736). As yet, I have found no evidence of Isaac having a previous wife. They may be the parents of William (b1768) but I just can’t find a likely birth record anywhere.
