Margaret Boyle Aitken

There is an Aitken tree with Margaret Aitken m. Boyle, but I have Margaret Boyle Aitken m. Alexander Kyle in the Dunedin area.  Do these people belong in that tree?  Were Thomas (tea merchant) and Jane her parents and where did they come from?

Hi you don't give any dates but the only marriage that resembles an Aitken/Boyle marriage is this one

1903/3196   Margaret Allen    Aitken    to William Reuben    Boyles

It doesn't pay to use information from online trees as they are notorious for their mistakes,

Cheers Janette

I don't see any Aitken births in NZ to Jane and Thomas either.
You can search NZ BDM's here

I have Margaret Boyle Aitken m. Alexander Kyle in the Dunedin area.

Hi,

The above is an 1880 marriage.

This record shows where she came from, if this is the Margaret you are after.

Andersons Bay Cemetery Burials - Dunedin

Name : KYLE Margaret Boyle
Date : 21 Aug 1955
Reference number : 27497
Occupation : widow
Residence : 10 Merlin Street
Where born : Scotland
Age : 94
Province : 80 years
Informant : Hope & Kinaston

As mentioned by Janette, dates do help us with the right person, it is also a good idea to follow up information with Printouts of marriage/death.

Cheers

There is a tree for a Margaret Boyle Aitken born 28 December, 1860 • 8 Kinnoull Street, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland, death date matches the above.

Parents Thomas 1824-1899 - Tea Merchant
Jane Meldrum 1822-1908

Perhaps you could make contact with the tree owner.

There is an 1874 shipping record here

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-6FW9-FPC?i=15&cc=1609792

For 3 Aitken sisters

Eliza aged 17 from Aberdeen
Maggie B aged 14
Jane M age 9

Maggie B's age is right for your lass,

Cheers Janette

You guys are so good and fast.  I don't have Ancestry, but picked up part of a tree from them by reading between lines.  It did not mention the girls, but the cemetery in Dunedin mentioned Elizabeth Stirling Aitken as buried with Thomas.  She died at 19 which matches your shipping record.  Maggie B 's age is way off from what I guessed, but I'll have to check that out.  I'm sure you found her.  Thomas had a shop in Perth on High Street, but I didn't copy all his addresses listed on Ancestry.  I don't have Ancestry to locate who has the tree.  I also can't get to the archive person who asked about my grandparents as the e-mail is bad.  I'm going to have to search about.

I'm a bit confused as I saw a Jane Aitken, but she is not buried with Thomas and the old familysearch never seemed to have useful shipping data.  Thanks for finding everything.

Possible that she is the Jean Aitken died 29 October 1908, Otago, Northern Cemetery.  I stand to be corrected. :)
