Cemeteries in Bristol

This is one of those questions that may be impossible to answer!

I was discussing with husband where various family members were buried.

His grandmother, Teresa (or Theresa) Meagher (or Maher), b 1916 in Mullingar, Ireland, married a Frederick Britton in 1954 in Bristol. I've found a death for a Teresa Britton in Bristol in September quarter 1961.

My husband says, and this is all a bit vague, "she was buried somewhere close to Stoke Park in Bristol, but the place was all overgrown."

Now, whether he means it was all overgrown then, or became so later, I don't know, and he couldn't name the place.  Nothing jumps out at me when googling. Don't know whether it's relevant, but Teresa was brought up as a Catholic

I'm sorry, I know this isn't much to go on, but if anyone could suggest any place that I could look into, I'd much appreciate it

There is the Holy Souls Catholic cemetery, on Bath Rd, Brislington, more or less next door to Arnos Vale. Found two sets of Catholic great great grandparents buried there, one very overgrown, the other with a memorial.

Stoke Park appears to be around 4 miles away.

Perhaps the nearest cemeteries to Stoke Park are Greenbank (Fishponds area) and Avonview (St George)

You may like to consider writing to the Bristol CC to see if they can suggest the most likely place.

Have you also considered obtaining the death certificate?  Although it won't tell you where she is buried it will give an address of some sort which may assist in locating a burial place.  Depends on what information is on the death certificate.

I wonder if it would be possible to obtain a PDF of the death certificate? I have the volume and page numbers.

You will just miss out on a PDF.  The deaths for PDFs only go up to 1957 so it looks as though you will need to order the full works.

Try the cemeteries line of enquiry first.  Sometimes you get lucky and they will look it up without any charge.

lisajb - does your Britton have any connection to Coss Britton who died circa 1960?
