Date on 1611 Survey
« on: Monday 18 December 17 21:12 GMT (UK) »
I can see this is 3d Sept, but what are the couple of squiggles after Anno Dom (Is it Dom?) and before what I think is Jacobi (James)?
It's from the 1611 survey of Macclesfield.

Thanks very much

Not sure of date  :-\  Can see Septembr (in Latin isn't it?)

- but could James actually be Jacob?    :-\

I think it might read (in Latin)

the third day of September in the ninth year of the reign of James &c

although I can't see the whole line.

If it is James I/VI then it would be right for 1611.

The word before Jacobi is nu(n)c (= now, meaning 'the present king').

Thanks everyone.

So after 'Anno Dom' its 'RR nunc Jacobi etc'?
There is no more to the line Nell. The next line starts 'by Sir William Fleetwood.............'

It's:  ...Anno Nono RR nu(n)c Jacobi...

Anno Nono = ninth year

THanks HD.
I had my doubts it was Anno Dom.
That makes more sense.  ;)
