Hi ,
Looking for William Petrie (b) 1833 Marykirk / Garvock.
I have him in 1841 Census, and the 1851 cencus where he is App gardener
living at Gardners cottage,Johnston Lodge,Laurencekirk,
can't see him after that ....maybe he died ,although scotlandspeople doesnt seem to come up with him ...then again perhaps he emigrated .

mothers name Ann Taylor .

He could have died before statutory death certificates started in 1855. It is worth checking the English 1861 census. Many Scottish gardeners went south to work.
