You have obviously done some extensive research and I am afraid I have nothing to help you.

Its very said what happened to John Preston..
Hopefully someone else can come up on something for the mysterious "Eliza Cook"

Unfortunately, according to www.workhouses.org.uk, Sheffield's workhouse records were destroyed during WWII, so there'll be no admissions register, e.g., to check.
