Anne McCrea born 1847
« on: Friday 22 December 17 11:16 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the family of Anne McCrea supposedly born Jan 1847 to a William McCrea. She married John Adair 18 May 1866 in Lanarkshire and was in Philadelphia by 1870. My DNA match to this Anne suggests that she might be sister, or cousin, to William McCrea, my great grandfather, born about the same time in Ballynure, father also named William.

My great grandfather was married to Agnes Blair, 18 Oct 1867, in the 2nd Presbyterian Church, Ballyeaston.

Rathmore -Thanks, I already have the marriage record, it is available free on Family Search. I am looking for a birth record or some other source for the names of parents and siblings.

I note that your Great Grandfather was married in 2nd Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church in 1867.

In the 1813 Population of the Ballyteaston Congregation  there are two McCrea family's listed next door to each other in the townland of Ballynashee. Both fathers are farmers.

William 55 yr and Mary aged 30 with children Nancy 7,William 4, Francis 2, James 6 mths and Widow McCrea 86yrs.

Next to the above – Francis 47 yr and Agnes 35 with children Agnas(sic)15, Catherine 12, William 8 and Francis 4yrs.

You may come across an online data base which mentions one of  the members of the above McCrea’s that provides you with further clues as to who  the parents of your Anne McCrea b 1847 might be.

Regards,
KiwiRose.

KiwiRose - Thanks for that info. At this point I do not know if these people are in my line or not. My grandfather, Thomas McCord McCrea, was born in Skilganaban and his father, William, was born there as well about 1847. From his marriage record, I know that William's father was also a William, but too young to be among the people you mention. This is what I found for a marriage record.

There is a couple in my records who might be connected to the McCrea families of Ballynashee and also my family, however the linkage has not been found.

William McCrea (1830-1900) married Jane Mackey (1834-1893) in the 2nd Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church 8 Aug 1855. William's father was a William born about 1809, so he could be the one in the family of William and Mary.

William and Jane had a son named Robert who Emigrated to Kansas around 1875, came back to Ballyclare and returned to Kansas in 1902. On the same ship was a William McCrea whom I believe to be the brother of my grandfather. Robert could have been his great uncle, but I have not found the family connection.
