I followed Dundee's hint re Portdrine in 1891 which gave John Donnellan in Blatherwycke, Northants.
1911 index for the same man living in the same place is transcribed as Co. Clara, Portdrive which would seem to support aghadowey’s suggestion here.

Thanks again everyone   The person I was trying to find was a John Donellany originally spelling Donely born Dunmore Galway Ireland he ended up after 1901 in or around Manchester in a  Hospital classed as a lunatic.
