Farrell/Farrell of Camdridgeshire

I am looking for the baptism c1780 of Joseph Farrell/Farrall who at his marriage in in Epsom, Surrey in 1809 gives his home town as Wood Ditton, Cambridgeshire. He was Clerk of the Course at Epsom Racecourse from 1820s until his death in Epsom in 1845 aged 65. I have his will which does not help.

Can anyone help please?

It is likely that Wood Ditton was not his place of birth just where he was living.  It is very close to Newmarket where he may have worked before Epsom. 

I have distant family (not Farrell) in W D who were born in Epsom they were grooms and trainers.

There are a couple of newspaper ads (Bury and Norwich Post)  in June 1811 regarding the auction of furniture and household goods belonging to "Joseph Farral of Newmarket" who was changing his residence.

Thank you both. I am trying to connect Joseph Farrell to the Thomas Farrell (my 4x great grandfather) who was in Ashtead, Surrey, next to Epsom, in 1801 when his (Thomas's) daughter Sarah was born. Thomas would be the right age to be a brother of Joseph, but the only reference to Thomas in Ashtead is the birth of Sarah.

Farrell is an Irish Surname; is possible that he was born in Ireland?  The Surname Farrell is most prevalent in Ireland in the Counties of Longford and neighbouring Westmeath.  Unfortunately if he were born in Ireland in Circa 1780 you might struggle to find a baptismal record as early as that (the earliest surviving baptismal record in County Longford is from 1779 but the records are pretty patchy and availability of surviving records varies from church to church).

I did consider Ireland, but as I appear to have no Irish links in my DNA I have concentrated on England.

As these trainers /jockeys etc seemed to travel around it is possible he was born in Ireland though his parents were born in England.  You should not discount it just because of DNA
