Partingtons Samlesbury-request further info late 1700's
« on: Tuesday 26 December 17 15:15 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help please regarding Henry Partington's parents/siblings please. I have a baptism for Henry-1821(St Leonard The Less,Samlesbury 1821. His parents were Henry Partington and Agnes Whittam. I have found a marriage for them-26th June 1814 at the same church. But I am struggling to find any other children (if any were born) for Henry and Agnes. I am trying to go back further regarding Henry and Agnes. The only other connection for Agnes is a relative called George Whittam on their marriage entry. I don't know when Henry and Agnes were born and guessing they were both from the Samlesbury area. Henry is down as being a spinner on his son Henry's baptism record. Any help would be appreciated.

Mother of Henry is transcribed as Anne on Lancashire OPC.
An older Henry, son of Henry & Agnes was baptised at St. Leonard, Salmesbury 1817.
Baptism of Sarah, daughter of Henry & Anne at St. James, Brindle, 1825. Abode Wheelton. Henry's occupation was cotton spinner.
Were Anne and Agnes same woman?

Also according to Lancs opc the 1814 marriage was between Henry Parkinson and Agnes Whittam.

The baptisms  both have with surname Parkington.

Burial 27th Jan. 1824 St. Leonard, Balderstone, Henry Parkington, age 36, abode Salmesbury.
Baptism of Sarah, at Brindle in my reply #1 was 6th Feb. 1825. Posthumous baby, late baptism, widowed mother moved? All possible. There may be something in poor relief records re widow & child/children, if the death was that same Henry.

Could this be George Whittam the witness to Henry and Agnes' marriage possibly Agnes' Father? It's from Lancashire online parish clerks site

Yes,I think as with other ancestral records, people's names were written incorrectly.
