Maxilla Gardens,Kensington,London
« on: Thursday 28 December 17 12:11 GMT (UK) »
Happy Christmas and a good new year everyone.

I am trying to trace an Aunt ,Dorothy E Shearman, who removed from Germany  1950's,she appears to have lived at 77,Maxilla Gardens,Kensington,London according to a Tea Chest which had the address stamped on the top of the lid.Big snag no such address, numbers for Maxilla Gardens according to a map halt in the early 40's.Has anyone access to voting registers for that time or could point me to a website with some similar  information .Many thanks for your time  and all the best. :)

There is a marriage in roughly the right area, could that be her? If so, the certificate could help.

Now Maxilla Walk. Could it perhaps be #11 instead of 77?

Hello Groom ,Thank you for the quick answer,I have in the past gotten that certificate and although it is an uncommon name it was not her. Thank you for your time and help.
Happy new year.

Hello Bookbox, Thank you for your help ,it may have been 11 but it did look like 77 and this is the confusion and thought maybe the voting registers or even telephone directory would give me some answers. Many thanks for your time and help and Happy New year to you. :)

If you look at the 1954-55 map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/523944/181227/13/101329 you will see that Maxilla Gardens only goes up to Number 41

I agree with Bookbox. In Continental Europe (and some other places) a digit  "1" is often written with a very long serif. If she'd written "7", it would have been crossed with a horizontal bar.
