Information on a relative from ww1

Hi, I'm looking form information on a relative of mine

His was Private John George Hammell, he served in ww1 8th Battalion Yorkshire regiment and he died on 10th July 1916 aged 21.  His mother was Mrs Mary Broadhead.

Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated

If you have access to Ancestry there is an article about him from UK, De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour, 1914-1919 for John G Hamell

He was the son of the late Hugh Hamell and Mary Waller (now Broadhead) Died as a Prisoner of War from wounds received at the Battle of the Somme. Had a brother Arthur who was also killed in I think 1915.

Not sure how much or what info is in a soldiers will, possibly not much.

 The Register of Soldiers' Effects has "death presumed on or since 10 July 1916" which is the usual entry for those who went missing during an action and who could not be subsequently accounted for.  There is no POW record for him , the Duvigny's entry may be what was thought to have happened.

Look at the 10 July and references to 69 Brigade in the 23rd Division which is the brigade in which the 8th Battalion fought.  The war diary of the battalion is downloadable from the National Archives here :http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7354661.  The battalion casualties on that day included one officer and 87 other ranks missing.

The Effects Register shows his sole legatee was his mother who received his war gratuity of £8 and the money the army owed him -  £2 13s 2d.

The action took place starting in square X 21 moving towards Contalmaison in X 16 and on to the trench marked "the cutting" in X 17.

There may be an obituary in Bradford City Library ?
In the old library someone had collated all of them into a card file which identified which paper (on fiche) the obituay was.It was held in the local studies area.Staff were very helpful however haven't been to new library.
