This appears to be them in 1910 census. They are boarders at 175 Spring St. Rochester, NY. Listed as being married 1 year and Alfred is a waiter.

There are a couple of Burton births with MMN steel
eg Albert F W Burton   1914   Croydon, Surrey, England   

and a candidate for that man could be the one in 1939 Coulsdon and Purley U.D., Surrey, England.
I suggest that you friend buys the 1939 record and works on eliminating him.

Too many Jessie Burton in deaths/ marriages to know which if any is the right one.

The marriage information has been given as 10 days before they got on the boat, so not USA.

The passenger list to Liverpool said their intended country of future residence was a foreign country - that is, not England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, or a British possession.  I don't see a passenger list of them coming back, so I'm not sure if they did return to the US, went to Canada, or stayed put where they were.

In case it helps with figuring him out, the 1909 passenger list above said that Alfred was previously in Rochester for 2 years and mentions 1908, which may be when he left the US.  This passenger list from 1905 has an Alfred Burton of the right age who was a basket maker, which was the same occupation as the 1909 passenger list.  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2Q3C-38H
