Could it be Ramplin?

It's a tricky one, so I have searched for both John Ramplin and Kamplin - but found nothing in 1871.

Oh what a merry dance our ancestors lead us in!

Looks like my rellies have got themselves in with no-good people?  Still can't find them after 1869 until 1894/1901.  And John Kamplin has just disappeared too.

Emily Holmes, b 1843 Fressingfield, Suffolk  (mother)
Howard George Holmes b 1869, Pancras London (child)

Thanks for all your help so far.

Pam

He was a labourer, imprisoned for 5 days (hard labour) and fined 5 shillings for being drunk in charge. Released on 18 April.

But no other record of him in earlier or later censuses?  b abt 1847, he is the right sort of age for my Emily.

There's a John Ramplin in the 1861 census in Lewisham, aged 15, a labourer, born Camberwell.

Thanks, he looks possible, but since there seems to be no further connection with Emily Holmes or her illegitimate son Howard George, I'll leave him for now, especially as whether as Ramplin or Kamplin he disappears from records!!  It's possible, but unprovable that he is Howard's father.

Would still love to find Emily and/or Howard between 1870 and 1900.
