birth of bridget burke
« on: Friday 29 December 17 21:59 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for the birth record of Bridget Burke. I am not certain what area of southern Ireland she was born.(Could be Tipperary area but uncertain) She married my Great Uncle Denis Farren in Boston Nov 12th 1919. She gave her father as Nicholas Burke/ mother Annastasia Forestal. On marriage record she stated her age as 36 (ie born 1883). This is contradicted by 1940 census for Boston in which age is stated as 64 (ie born 1876) therefore the guess is, sometime between 1877/1883? I would dearly love to find her birth record.

Shes a bit young to have travelled solo in 1890/1897. (Somewhere between 7y and 14y).

Did she travel with family?

I saw a baptism for Ellen, 1873 in Tullaroan Parish and this is the civil record

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1873/03196/2171952.pdf

The residence is Gaulstown.

I had seen this birth record for a Bridget but wasn’t sure. It may be her but mother is shown as Costelloe.

Here is the baptism for Bridget with parents of correct name so I think the civil record is a misunderstanding.

Bottom of page August 1876

The date of birth on the civil is a few days out but that is quite common. The most important th8ng was Baptism.
