GRO Index Entry
« on: Saturday 30 December 17 09:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have found a GRO birth index entry on Find My Past for Barry AM Garden Jun Q 1916 in Wandsworth. This is confirmed by FreeBMD. However when I tried to cross reference it with the GRO index I got a different result with additional wording "Occasional copy: A"
Can anyone help with an explanation of the additional wording. My only thought was that the FindMyPast listing was the original listing and the GRO index is current and up to date so perhaps he changed his name. Has anyone one another explanation?
I have attached the relevant entries
Hoping someone can help
Regards

I'd agree with submitted correction - the original entry on the GRO Index is for BARRY A M Garden, and the entry on the new GRO facility gives HILARY Alistair Murray Garden.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
