Salvationist believe that from the moment they are born, God has a vision for their lives; He calls them to serve Him and He trains and equips them. Under pastoral guidance a Salvationist who is at least 14 years of age can, with the approval Salvation Army Pastoral Care Council, become a soldier and is considered a warrior in the Christian denomination called The Salvation Army. By signing the Salvation Army Articles of War a soldier expresses his or her commitment in every area of life, specifically through the ministry and work of a local Salvation Army corps. Warriors exercise their 'holy passion' to win the world for Jesus.
The swords therefore represent the fight against sin, and when one takes their last breath and passes this earthly realm a Warrior lays down their sword and receives their crown. The crown is God's reward for His faithful people.
