Thank you all for that. I had found a 'John Done' marriage in 1896 but in FindMyPast it was not recorded who he married. Also, I just looked up Rachel Simms marriage in FindMyPast and it only lists William Hopley as a husband.

Maybe you also could find what happened to a daughter of John's from an earlier marriage. Nancy Tonks born 1882 to John & Nancy (Howe). I can see her in 1891 (Odd Rode) living with her parents, but after that , nothing.

Thanks again for looking and finding the info on Rachel.

There is an ancestry tree which says Nancy married Edward William Asbury in 1900 - couldn't find a marriage listed in 1900.  ???

Two children born 28 May 1902 Selina Asbury - GRO gives mmn as Tonks.
Frank Kendrick Asbury born 1910 - GRO gives mmn as Tonks

This looks like the right couple - ancestry tree is quoting info from 1911 census - marriage 11 years - thats where 1900 comes from  ???

:) So the 1918 marriage suggests that possibly Edward William could not marry until then, or they just lived as a couple by 1911?
