The Three Crowns doesn't exist any more. It was near the junction of Oldham Rd and Thorp Rd. It is mentioned in a few football history websites, as it was used as changing rooms for Newton Heath F.C. (who later became Manchester United)

As the football club was founded in 1878, it is possible that Siah Albeson was still landlord at this time.

Thanks for sharing Barbara, appreciate. Yeah, Copenhagen Grounds Arena was right there, at Newton Heath, Manchester. Albison was a One Mile champion runner of England, he won his title over there. That gentleman Mr. Thomas Hayes proprietor of the grounds did a lot for sports in the area, I would call him Father of Manchester's Athetics. In 1870 he didnt renew his licence and arena was demolished. He moved to Deansgate I think and was still actively promoting local sports.

Trying to get any of his pictures, back then they were producing cabinet card with images of famous local sportsmen...any ideas where is the best place to ask?

May be some local antique stores? Is there any in the Newton Heath areas?
