Can someone  help me with this please

Francis Murphy  aged 18yrs shows on the 1881 census as Private 2nd Batt 12th Regt.
He was born in Ireland but was living in Newcastle upon Tyne with his family and census shows he was in St. Helier,Jersey.

Can i find an army  record for him for this early.
