Is this my John Wyatt bC1826 Glossop Derbyshire
« on: Wednesday 03 January 18 03:56 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping that fresh eyes might help me solve the mystery of what became of my John Wyatt from Glossop Derbyshire.
After a long search I think he may have travelled to Australia , having arrived Queensland 1863 on "Sunda".
He did not come to Victoria where other family settled.
Instead he may have remained in Queensland for the rest of his life , finally drowning 29 Apr 1907:

Initially identified as John White and much younger than anticipated , I think there is strong evidence that it is the same person.

One of the newspaper reports concerning his drowning , mentions than he had been known in the area for 40 years.

I am hoping he was aged 80 rather than 60 as quoted on his memorial. If my man he was b1826 Blackshaw Glossop.Very difficult to prove.
I did find him on Electoral Rolls early 1860s.
John Wyatt
1864-65 Electoral District of Wide Bay, Adelaide St Maryborough, qualified by 'board and lodgings' .
1865-66 Electoral District of Maryborough, Maryborough, qualified by 'board and lodgings' .
1866-67 Electoral District of Maryborough, Maryborough, qualified by 'board and lodgings' .
He was mentioned at an inquest 7 Apr 1864. Working as a shop man  Messrs Dowzer and Purser.

Am I jumping at shadows or is this my man?
How can I prove?
