The nearest I got was Thomas McKeebis with mother Hays which matches the birth of Thomas, 1 month old in 1851  :-\

Free BMD has him as McKeeby.

Thanks Heywood, it is just luck really though isn't it.  :)   I can't see any others either.

Hi Heywood,

I just want to say many thanks to you too for the effort you made to try to help me with my query. :)

This was a great find by rosie99 indeed! :)

I suppose in those days people may have been able to get through life without a birth certificate.   Perhaps my Great x 2 Grandparents Bernard & Margaret may have considered registration unnecessary bureaucracy.  I do remember now that my own Grandmother (called Louisa - Bridget's daughter in law) once had a query about a birth date in the family.  Apparently, this was solved by asking the local priest rather than sending off for a certificate.

Oh!  I am so missing those Christmas smileys.  What fun they were!  I suppose they would not be so special if they were on all year round.

Thank you  :) Yes, I miss the smileys too.

Do you have baptisms for the other children? I think that was thought to be the important event at birth.

Happy New Year

Heywood

Hi Heywood.

Happy New Year too! :)

I think when I was last at the Durham archives I must have only found records for the children mentioned as I can't find any more baptism records unfortunately.  I am sure the other children would have had a baptism at some Church though as I am sure this would have been considered of paramount importance.  I will look again the next time I get an opportunity to get along to this particular Archive again.

Best Wishes :)

Oh dear.
I am sure they will be there somewhere- the spellings and pronunciation will probably have caused difficulties.
