1661 will - part 1
« on: Friday 05 January 18 13:36 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate some assistance with a fairly short will that is rather hard to read in places and in addition the right hand edge is buried in the binding, however only 5 or 6 letters appears to be missing.

I’ll post the will in 3 separate posts to make life a little easier

In the name of God * the twelth day of Januarie in
the twelth yeare of the Reign of our Sovraigne Lord Charles the 2nd by the grace
of God of England Scotland France and Ireland * defende of the faithe * And
in the year of our Lord 1660. I Robt Edwards of Wisbech * in the Isle of
Ely and Countie of Cambridge gent beinge * of body but of *
minde and memory blessed

thanks

Edward

This was Robert Edwards m. Elizabeth Emmerson.  His father was Robert Edwards and his mother was Mary Tilney.

His daughter were:

Mary Edwards
Ann Edwards m. Henry White
*Audrey Edwards
*Elizabeth Edwards

*One of these two married John Maye, as depicted in the Will-1661  Maye and White men are from the Maye/White family that Thomasine Crosse married.  Thomasine Crosse was Robert Edwards(Mary Tilney) Aunt.  Her sister was Audrey Crosse, Robert's mother, and Robert-1661's grandmother.  Thomasine's descendants began the Mayflower descendants through Dorothy Maye Bradford and William White.

I have these daughters of Robert Edwards & Mary Tilney (I do not have a Mary)

Audrey b 1619
Elizabeth b 1622
Anne b b 1625

The will of Robert d 1661 does refer to a brother in law John Moyes / Mayes & a sister of the same surname.

Thomasine Crosse married a John Maye in Wisbech in Jan 1571/72. I haven't followed this line so have no other information.
