is the GRO pdf extended pilot continuing?
« on: Saturday 06 January 18 15:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Does anyone know if the GRO pdf pilot will be continuing beyond 12 January when the initial 3 months of the extended pilot is up?

"The GRO is piloting a service from 12 October 2017 to provide portable document format (PDF) copies of digitised historical birth and death records. The pilot will run for a minimum of 3 months to enable GRO to assess the demand for this service over a prolonged period."

thanks
Lisa

Extended PDF Pilot: Next Steps

Q27. When will this service become permanent?
Once the extended PDF pilot is over we will be analysing the results to inform future service provision. It is not possible at this point to provide a timescale.

Q29. When will you be adding more products?
We are committed to running the extended PDF Pilot for a minimum of 3 months and analysing the extension to inform potential future products and services.

No mention of actual finish date.  Better get your orders in now   ;D

Hi newbie here

I looked on here to find out when/if the PDF trial might become a permanent option.  However, I did find today about an hour or so ago (6 jan 18) that the PDF option is no longer appearing when placing orders, so presumably it's not running up until 12 January.

I had received a PDF only yesterday having ordered earlier in the week so thought it might still be active.

Welcome to rootschat  :)

Interesting - I placed an order for 2 yesterday & that worked - they must have withdrawn the service this weekend.

Oh good, but probably worth making any orders already decided upon before the 12th.

Hmm.  I've just tried again and have checked the page and the option is not appearing for a marriage certificate.   Then I've tried 'ordering' a birth certificate instead (one I already have) and the option does appear.

My apologies I didn't realise they didn't do it for marriage certificates.

At the last user meeting I attended, when this latest extension of the pilot was announced,  it was stressed that it would be for a minimum of three months. Although GRO obviously want to keep their options open I wouldn't be surprised to see it continue and become a standard option.
