Hester/Esther Wood
« on: Sunday 07 January 18 02:01 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping someone could double check for a christening for me.

I am looking for the christening of Hester Wood [of Canterbury]. She married Isaac German of Wye, in 1639 at Canterbury St Margaret. They married by licence and Hester is described as being "of this parish" and so I suspect she was probably born in Canterbury St Margaret or a nearby parish.

The age of the licence makes her born c1618, however she may have been a little younger/older.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Matt

The term "of this parish" refers to her residency at the time of marriage.
It doesn't refer to her place of birth! ;D

Yes good point. I had realised that but obviously Canterbury seems a good place to start looking. It is entirely possibly she was from elsewhere lol :)
