Durrants in Hawkhurst
« on: Sunday 07 January 18 02:22 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me how far Hawkhurst is from Edenbridge approximately?

I am looking for the christening of Sarah Durrant who married John Winter in Edenbridge in 1721.

John was christened in Cheveing in 1691 and was the son of another John Winter.

There is a christening for a Sarah Durrant [daughter of James] in Hawkhurst in 1703 and so far this is the only one which seems to fit with what I have.

James Durrant appears to have married twice [both wives were called Elizabeth]:

James Durrant and Elizabeth Sharpe - 14 Feb 1699 Hawkhurst
James Durrant and Elizabeth Johnson - 24 Oct 1708 Hawkhurst.

James appears to have Sarah and a son named John [1706] by Elizabeth Sharpe, who then appears to have died. The rest of his children starting in 1709 appear to be by Elizabeth Johnson.

If anyone can check for any Durrant burials in Hawkhurst between 1680 and 1700 it would be helpful as well.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Matt

Thanks for that. It seems a little bit far away to me.

What do you think?
