Hi Ian,

Thank you for all of your help. I am trying to determine if this is the right person and I suspect that it is. I have not seen any of the records you found! It's difficult for me to navigate the Swedish archives.

My 2nd great grandmother was born with the same date as Charlotte Margaretha Svedberg 18 Nov 1848. She married Jan 21 1872 to Carl Gustaf Tillander in Maria Magdalena Parish. Her move in records to Maria Magdalena Parish 17 Jul 1871 show her born in Almanna Barnhuset. In 1872 both emigrated to America.

On her move in records and marriage records her name is listed as Kihlman not Kihlmark. I have found some Swedish records on Ancestry but I can not post them here.

I'm guessing that they couldn't read so they may never had noticed the mistakes.

I have been trying to find their passenger record and found an August Tillander with a Calotta from 1872 to New York. Is this them? I don't have Ancestry.

Yes, that's them!

I have most of the records for Carl including his birth records, mother etc. in Boras. Charlotte was harder because of being born in a Allmänna barnbördshusets. Your translation of the orphanage record was the key to finding out more about her!
