Royal Navy - Vessel "Furious" at Sheerness circa 1901?
« on: Sunday 07 January 18 11:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello All,

I have a family member who is shown on the 1901 census being in the Royal Navy (Stoker 2 Cl) at Sheerness on the vessel "Furious".  My research has come up with two HMS Furious vessels, one built in 1850 and broke up in 1884, the other was launched 1916.  So, I am puzzled as to what vessel he was on at the time of the census?  Any ideas you have that can help me?

Many Thanks......... Paul

This would have been the 1896 Furious, an Arrogant class cruiser:

Voyage to Sheerness referred to here:
