There was a marriage in Woolwich - recorded Q 4 - Oct/Nov/December 1916 - Ernest C Baylis  to  Florence Walker - 1 d 2350 - this might be worth following up to see if it is your Florence in Montreal.
Strange Florence Harriet is described as a servant in 1911

Thanks for all the new stuff Sandra, you are so quick and rapidly leaving me behind - even though I have had chance to catch up!  :-[
The Margaret Foster attachment is good to see - I am so out of touch as to where to find these things now as I have had a long break from all this.

As for our William WALKER being born in Woolwich - and when:
Firstly - yes, we have him at 36 Rectory Grove, Woolwich.

I see William claims to be born 11 Feb 1871 on his naturalization record, but he also seems to have noted Florence's birth incorrectly as we have it as 1890 (Q3).
I should explain there (re. Florence) - I was wrong when I said we didn't have Florence on record - sorry, I did have her after all, so we already had her details.
Of course, we could still be wrong!  :-[

I don't recognise the South metropolitan District School bit, so I can't really help with that, sorry.
We actually have him registered as b.1872 in Charlton, but this is close to Woolwich so it could possibly be seen as the same.

Re the Baylis/Walker marriage...
The Bayliss name doesn't mean anything to me, and is most confusing as we already have our Florence (again, strangely shown as a Servant!), but included at home in 1911 with her own family.
We have often wondered why she was entered as a Servant!
The address was:
43 Bethel Road, Welling, Kent.
William 40 born Charlton, Kent
Harriet 41 born Gloucestershire
Florence Harrier 20 born Woolwich (servant)
Francis Henry 15 born Woolwich

The marriage for Florence wasn't until 1916 - looking at London Electoral Register. Florence Baylis and Henry Ernest Conway Baylis are at Mercury Road Woolwich in 1929
Doesn't appear to be any children to the couple

Was your William Walker born 1872 Woolwich - the one in the South Metropolitan Dist School  Epsom Surrey in 1881  ???

Sandra

The reason for asking was there was also a George Walker born 1867 Woolwich on the same list as William Walker in 1881

Sorry, I replied to your (most clear) 'marriage' post with details from the 1911 Census.....think I'm getting tired, must be to make a mistake like that!  :-[
I'll check out that marriage - I have Find My Past, so I'll do it now.
Yes, it would seem strange the wife was the servant - although equally strange in the 1991 Census I mentioned, with the daughter being noted as a servant - if this is the same Florence it seems she must have enjoyed it!

I'm really not sure here, I can't say either way or who is who. There were so many WALKERs in the area, unfortunately.
