Thank you for taking the trouble to find this information. You obviously have a good source.

Yes, I believe these people are part of our family.

My ancestor Maria Capretz was the daughter of John and Mary as she was born in 1802.

This is my best effort at tracing our Italian roots which were rumoured by the family and has shown up in a DNA  test.

Regards

John

world wide subscription to ancestry.com.

Sorry I should have sourced my information.

I looked on London Lives 1680-1820 but did not find John Capretz listed, I was hoping to find
his occupation.

Do you have the information on his sons John and John William, do you need what can be found on his parents.

The name Capretz  with variations goes back to the 1600's in London/Middlesex, church transcriptions on ancestry.

Thank you.

I know very little about this family. Any information will be helpful.

Perhaps though it may not be my Italian link as I thought. That is if the Capretz family have been in the UK all that time.

Regards

John

If Maria Capretz is your ancestor then this particular family is yours, they may have come to England with John her grandfather.
The name is found further north as well, it means Italians with the name Capretz have been coming to England for generations. I didn't mean to imply that your family had been traced back that far.

St Luke's Church Chelsea

Maria baptised 24 May 1801  born 15 July 1800

Mary baptised 25 August 1802 no birth date given

John William baptised 9 September 1804, born 27 July 1804 buried 3 June 1805

John baptised 20 July 1806, born 15 June 1806, buried 4 December 1812 age 6
-------------------------
There is also an Elizabeth buried 3 November 1811 I've not found her baptism yet so not a definate child of John and 3rd wife Mary.

John Capretz the father of the children was buried 15 February 1824.
Hopefully he left a will or there is some sort of probate naming relatives.
----------------
St Martin in the Fields Church
Mary Capretz married Thomas Trigg 1 October 1815, witness Mark Ringer and John Taylor.
John Taylor signs many of the entries so probably the parish clerk.
A possible sister  of John.

Thank you so much for all this information.

I will try to see if John left a will, it may help further.

A little more progress so thanks again.

John Capretz was still living on Lawrence Street in 1802.
Perhaps a directory may give us a clue to his occupation

St Ann's Soho
John Capretz son of John and Honor baptized 29 October 1780 born 7 October

Thank you. Sorry, I don't know your name.

I wonder if you could help me again.  I have another brick wall.  Another possible Italian link.

We have a family called Duffell/ Deffell and other spellings. One of this family is called Reed Deffell Born 1735c  His given name is also the surname of his mother Jane Reed 170oc A  brother is called Florio Reed 1732c named after Jane Reed's father Florio Reed 1670c I suspect the first Florio Reed was named after another person with Florio as a surname. It may be a family trend at that time.

I hope you I am not asking too much from you but brick walls driver you potty.

Thanks
John

Hi David Tice from NJ,USA. In response to your mother being born out of wedlock to a Felix Capretz, I believe we might be related, I have useful information. If you see this I’d like to get in contact :)
