Charles Harrington
« on: Monday 08 January 18 19:08 GMT (UK) »
Another enquiry to see if anyone has access to more information than I can see:
Charles Harrington, b. Oct-Dec 1892, Sudbury, Suffolk. No parents visible on registration.
Can't find a baptism anywhere.
In these circumstances of no parents being obvious, is a birth certificate likely to show more, or is that a chance one simply has to take?! Any advice very welcome.
Thanks as always.

The Registration info you quote is just from the index. The actual birth cert should give his parents, though fathers name may be blank if he was ilegitimate.

But next step surely is to look for him on 1901/1911 censuses to see if he is with parents?

Fantastic, keyboard 86.
Thanks, lizdb. Yes, I've tried the census under Harrington, but no luck. If he is the person I think he is, he may have run away when young, and be using another name! It's all very complicated and I will post more info as I go. It sounds strange, but I am hoping to find some record of him in 1901, but not 1911. Sorry, not meaning to be obtuse, but wanted to post a quick thanks before I have to take a break!
The Cook name may give me another lead.

Possible death for Alice Harrington aged 32, Sep qtr 1892 Sudbury.

So possibly she died in giving birth to Charles, and his birth registration went over into the next quarter.

The children seem to be dispersed by 1901.  It looks as though George may have remarried.
