Missing place name 1608 will
« on: Tuesday 09 January 18 15:05 GMT (UK) »
The testator of this extract was 'of' Parson Drove at the time of his death which is about 5 miles west of Wisbech.

Thoughts on the place would be appreciated

It's written:  Murrome

Presumably the place now called Murrow.

Thanks, Murrow doesn't have a church but is/was part of 'Parson Drive with Murrow. Slightly surprised that it appears to have had a separate poor box.

I just noticed that the place is referenced again on the following line.

There it is spelt Murrowe.

I think the second m in the first spelling (while technically the correct reading) is probably an artifact of the image and some slightly sloppy penmanship.  I think it was always meant to be a w.

The fact that all his w's have a similar characteristic flourish (wife, howse) whereas his m's mostly don't is support for that idea.
