Hello,

Can someone please suggest how I can confirm that John WOODLOCK, a prisoner at the Gloucester County Gaol, died there on 20/04/1866 aged 19.

Thank You,

Emeltom,

Thank you.   But as he is just one of many people being researched for academic reasons, finances dictate against the GRO.    I did approach Gloucester Archives, who were extremely helpful, though unable to confirm the supposition that he did die in prison.

Ancestry

As John WOODLOCK was sentenced 9 August 1865 - for 15 months - this would mean he was still serving his sentence - so either fell ill or accident?  Nor sure whether there would have been a Coronor's Inquest.  There are earlier ones mentioned in newspapers articles on the net - stating the Inquests took place at the Gloucester prison.
